Jesus is The Bridge

These are verses and the diagram we are using in 5th grade Sunday School to understand how and why Jesus is the bridge we can take to reach God.

James 4:17
“Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

Isaiah 59:2
“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”
http://bible.us/Isa59.2.NLT

Proverbs 10:16
“The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin.”
http://bible.us/Prov10.16.NLT

Hebrews 9:27-28
“And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.”

Romans 3:23
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

4 Applications for John 6:-15

By Mateen Elass on 23 January 2011

1. Every one of us looks for deliverance. Who are you looking to?

2. What image of God inhabits your heart and mind?

3. Do you worry you may have used up all of God’s grace in your life?

4. Since we are all created in God’s image and adopted into his family, how are we demonstrating God’s generosity?

5. Do you long for God more for who He is rather than what He can do for you? (Are you a cat or a dog when it comes to God?)

Look for the fruit

I love these verses in Matthew 7:16.

“You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?”

We need to pay attention to “our own fruit” as well as that of others. Plant seeds. Grow fruit. The blessings of the Lord produce the harvest. We are the workers in the field. 🙂

Seven Seven’s

I’m taking a Wednesday night class at church this semester focusing on “Seven Sevens.” Tonight we discussed the book, “The Seven Desires of Every Heart” by Mark Laaser.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d.html/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/175-5179265-9326000?a…

The key verse of the book is Psalm 37:4.

From the NIV:
Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

From The Message:
Keep company with God, get in on the best.

From the Amplified Bible:
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

From The Good News Translation:
Seek your happiness in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desire.

In this sense, delight can mean to commune with God.

A blessing is an unconditional gift

7 Desires of the Heart: To be heard, affirmed, blessed, safe, touched, chosen & included

When we are safe we feel we can truly be ourselves (this is how I feel in my family)

Words can kill

Matthew 5:22

“I’m telling you that anyone who is so much as angry with a brother or sister is guilty of murder. Carelessly call a brother ‘idiot!’ and you just might find yourself hauled into court. Thoughtlessly yell ‘stupid!’ at a sister and you are on the brink of hellfire. The simple moral fact is that words kill.”
