Discussing Matthew 7:21-23
These were our discussion questions about Matthew 7:21-23 this morning in my men’s group. “What Does It Take to Enter the Kingdom of Heaven?â€
1) Jesus envisions conversations that will take place “on that day.†What is the day about which Jesus is speaking?
2) What role does Jesus envision for himself “on that day?†How does that affect your view of and relationship with him?
3) What sums up “the will of my Father in heaven†which one must do in order to enter heaven? How do you make sense of the messages that we are saved by the work of Christ on our behalf and that we are saved by doing the will of the Father in heaven? Are these not contradictory statements?
4) To prophesy, cast out demons, and do many mighty works in Jesus’ name seems like a strong, spiritual pedigree. Why would Jesus reject anyone who has done these kinds of works in his name?
5) What then do you think Jesus means by his response to such people, “I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of iniquity…�
6) What do you anticipate you will say “on that day†when you stand before Jesus?
CAPS LOCK ON: I BELIEVE THAT THESE 3 VERSES OF MATTHEW 7:21-23 IS JESUS TALKING ABOUT WHAT? JUDGEMENT DAY OF COURSE BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT IT SAYS IN THE VERSE. BASICALLY THESE PEOPLE WILL BE TRYING TO EARN CREDIT OR BETTER YET ACCEPT JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR ON JUDGEMENT DAY BUT THE GAVEL HAS BEEN STRUCK DOWN AND THE COURT IS OUT OF SESSION. WHEN IT TALKS ABOUT THEM DOING THINGS IN JESUS NAME THOSE ARE STRAIGHT LIES THE PEOPLE WHO DIDNT BELIEVE ON EARTH ARE TELLING JESUS BECAUSE THEY ARE FOOLISH AND DONT KNOW ANY BETTER THAN TO LIE TO CREATOR JESUS SO THEY CAN TRY AND GET ON HIS SIDE THEM THINKING THAT JESUS MAY NOT KNOW ALL THINGS (WHICH HE DOES) WHICH IS WHY HE KNOWS THEM AND KNOWS THAT THEY DIDNT CONFESS HIM AS LORD ON EARTH AND WHEN THEY GET TO “THAT DAY†IT WILL BE A LITTLE TOO LATE FOR THEM. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS BELIVE IN THE SON OF GOD JESUS CHRIST HERE IN OUR EARTHLY LIFE TO HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE–JOHN 3:16–HOPE THAT CLEARED THINGS UP! GOD BLESS.
